LAPD cop Mickey Stanton knew the minute the new guy, Jeff Chandler, a transfer from Seattle PD ended up in his division, he was crazy about him. Ending up in the same patrol car working as partners, Mickey couldn’t believe his luck when one late evening at the end of shift, they revealed to each other their sexual preference. From that moment on, the two of them began a fiercely wild love affair which included risqué sex on duty.
Craving Mick’s violent style of sex, Jeff knew he’d found a compatible partner on the job as well as in the bedroom, but after being burned by another lover, an officer in Seattle, Jeff was hesitant to commit to Mickey.
Working long shifts, getting into dangerous situations together, Jeff trusted Mickey with his life, but not his heart.
And Mickey craved that one true love, an exclusive pairing, and a life partner to share his life with.
As the exhaustion and stress of the job compete with their volatile relationship, Mick and Jeff struggle to keep what they have alive as the battles between them are as passionate as the sexual bouts. Can the two big cats, the sworn officers of LAPD make it happen? Or will the job and the anger separate these top men? Sometimes the answer is sitting in a patrol car by your side.

Okay. I'm done."I feel like I know you for longer than three months ..."
Really? Either the author is ESL or an LA cop named Mickey is. Hmm. What are the odds? Slim. This is just piss poor transcription and/or editing. How about, "I feel like I've known you for longer than three months ...." Was that so hard? And HOW did someone not catch that? Maybe I'm just peeved because this is the third book with the previous two having some similarly glaring issues, and now I'm just done with it, I don't know. But a few pages in? Come on! At least get lazy with the proofreading and editing towards the end when you're just as bored as the rest of the readers.
So ... poor editing aside. I wanted to shoot Jeff. If any person, much less people who are partners as cops in life or death situations, wants to do a no strings thing, FINE! But talk about it up front. Don't just eyeball every piece of man candy in sight minutes adter having your junk serbiced by your work partner who has real feelings for your skanky butt. If it were me and I moved to Cali from Seattle wanting to sample the ample goods, I seriously doubt I would think it was smart in any universe to make my police officer partner a freaking booty call off-duty and a hookup on-duty too! What a schmuck. Also, the prior two books teased these characters, but the impression was that they were maybe gay and if so, probably together but keeping a RELATIONSHIP under wraps because of the job. Oh no. What we have is an indiscriminating playboy getting his cake with his partner while looking for second dessert everywhere he goes including AT WORK WITH SAID PARTNER who is unfortunate enough to actually want everything from this little pissant. Yep. Done.

Top Men Hero Series Book 3 edition by G A Hauser Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I read the other 2 books in the Hero Series. Just like those, there really wasn't much of a plot and what plot there was usually was filled with over the top sex scenes. Normally, sex scenes aren't bad, but these were totally unbelievable.
So, out of the three of the books of the Hero trilogy, this was my least liked one. First off, Jeff was behaving horribly to Mickey. Now, I completely understand why he was, Lance screwed him over, I totally understand that. But, to me, Jeff was just acting like the stereotypical gay man that couldn't hold onto a relationship. Now, Mickey was making my angry too, being mad at Jeff, then having sex with him the next minute. There was one thing that i loved a lot about this one that was in the other two, was that the characters from the three couples were in the book. (Josh and Tanner, Blake and Hunter) There was a plot to me, and I understood the plot, it just seemed to be going back to the same thing over and over again, got a bit too much and too boring after a little while. I still really loved it, and it got me emotional and into it, just not always in the good way. I am still going to keep the copy I have, because I still did like it a lot, just not nearly as much as the firs two. (1st one was my favorite)
I have read other G.A Houser books, so I knew what I was in for. Predictable plot, a lot of sex and usually cute characters. I wasn't fooling my self. I wanted a fluffy read. But this? I had to stop. I probably can't explain in so many words. But just the fact that one of the MCs is a gay cop who hasn't told any one, but wears white tight shorts and a mid riff T-shirt showing of his abdomen...eather it's the early eighties or he's a 12 year old girl. Which would explain his emotional state as well.
This was a very good read from beginning to end I loved it! Mickey and Jeff were truly entertaining to read it was a constant page turner from beginning to end. An emotional roller coaster of up's and downs between the two along with such an explosive chemistry between them made this book such a good read. Also I really enjoyed the secondary characters as well and how they formed such a close friendship in such a short time.
Excellent plot development along with lots of select steamy intimate sessions. Has romance, suspense and everything is resolved in the end but there are twists that keep you guessing to the last page. I especially liked that the characters that were well developed in the 2 previous books were brought back in this book. The writing improves with each book. I'd love to see this series expanded using the same characters only showing how lifeguards, firemen and cops all work together in a beach area - both helping good people and maybe "crime fighting" and punishment of some bad guys in their own unique ways!
This book introduces Jeff and Mickey, two of L.A.'s heroic men in blue. I actually read "Cops," their second book, first. I really like the guys and their friends, fully letting go of reality to just enjoy the ride along. So I decided to read the "how they ended up together" first book. Goodness, the emotional rollercoasters! The criminal element is nothing compared to the knockdown/drag out arguments Jeff and Mick have over their relationship. Mickey has found "the one," but Jeff has had his heart broken and wants to see who else is out there. Meanwhile, they share the squad car every day, fighting crime, making friends with gay paramedics and lifeguards and picking at the scabs of emotional insecurity. All that aside, Ms. Hauser does a wonderful job of giving us a glimpse at the tension and grit that the guys deal with every day on the job, and maybe that's why their personal lives are so intense, too. And as over the top as the sex is, the story is still a fun read mostly because I like Mickey and Jeff and their friends and I want them to be happy. There are a lot of truly funny moments to break up the tension, which I appreciate.
I still think it's weird the way the group is so intimately physical with one another, including lots of voyeurism. I won't be reading any of Hauser's bondage or S&M storylines, but I can deal with this, I suppose.
One thing that does bug me is the major change in Mickey and Jeff's relationship at the end of the book that is never mentioned in "Cops." I don't like it when authors either forget or conveniently ignore facts from previous books. But Ms. Hauser has quickly become one of my favorites in the genre so I won't be too hard on her.
Okay. I'm done.
